As two-thirds of the US braces for the coldest weather yet, emergency officials warned that anyone spending more than a few minutes outdoors in such conditions could suffer frostbite, hypothermia or death.
As warming centers opened around the country, homeless shelters are receiving more people, and cities are taking special measures to look after those most vulnerable to the cold. Teams in New York City searched the streets for homeless people, while in Boston police are asking residents to call 911 if they see someone in need.
As we all hunker down, safe and warm, let's not forget those less fortunate. If you see someone in need, please notify the authorities!!
