Geomagnetic Sudden Impulse Expected

via Solar Ham

A sudden increase in solar wind speed to near 330 km/s was detected by the ACE spacecraft within the past hour. The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) remains pointed north. A reminder that a solar wind stream flowing from a geoeffective coronal is expected to reach Earth later today. Minor geomagnetic storming at high latitudes will be possible.

WARNING: Geomagnetic Sudden Impulse expected
Valid From: 2013 Dec 13 1315 UTC
Valid To: 2013 Dec 13 1345 UTC
IP Shock Passage Observed: 2013 Dec 13 1209 UTC

***If a geomagnetic storm ensues, many at high latitudes will be treated to Aurora's along with a meteor shower tonight! Lucky them!!***
