X1.1 Solar Flare Attached image below by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captures a strong X1.1 solar flare around sunspot 1890 at 05:14 UTC. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is visible in the latest STEREO Ahead COR2 imagery. More coronagraph imagery is required to determine if an Earth directed component is associated. More updates to follow.

The latest CME prediction model released by the Goddard Space Flight Center is calling for a direct Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) impact by late November 12th. The plasma cloud was flung into space and towards Earth by the X1 solar flare Saturday night. Geomagnetic storming will be possible once the plasma cloud arrives. More updates in the days ahead.
